    When Juicero launched a couple months ago, people couldn't believe that a high-tech cold-press juicer could cost $700. Despite the buzz, few beyond the company knew who designed it until today, when Yves Béhar’s firm, Fuseproject, announced it as its work.

    Béhar called the design for Juicero a "mechanical feat." The big challenge was finding a way of applying up to four tons of pressure against a pre-prepared pack at the push of a button. An aluminum door opens to reveal a red, silicone-lined cavity that holds each juice pack. Shut the door and a gear-driven square press squeezes the pack against the door.
